Friday was a relaxing day around our campsite as rain was supposed to arrive for Saturday and today.  Ton got in some kayaking in the morning, and then we rode bikes around the area and took a trail through the woods.

We saw a lot of wildfires and went to an old bridge over the creek.  The bridge is
closed as it’s not safe anymore.   Another beautiful day.

Saturday, we went to the Old Historic Town of Prattville outside Montgomery.  We visited the old Pratt home.  Mr. Pratt was the founder of the town and the house is from the late 1800’s.

This is the wedding attire for Mrs. Pratt.  The white dress on the right is the day after dress and the purple dress is the wedding dress.  Every road was dust and dirt back then, so the brides wore deep colors for the ceremony so it didn’t show all the dirt.

The Prattville Dam in the middle of downtown
Taking a break - I was getting tired.

It never rained on Saturday and spit showers today.  We spent today riding
bikes, reading books and exploring the campground.   We leave here in the morning.

We have arrived at Gunter Hill Corp of Engineers Park. It more than met our expectations. It’s 15 miles from Montgomery, AL and we are in the New Loop, Site 12. It overlooks the creek, which is as wide as a river. It has brand new paved roads and all campsites are paved. It includes water, electric and sewer for $11.00 a night with our America the Beautiful Nat’l Park Pass. It’s very pretty with wide spaces between sites and the staff is great
Ton washed the car and then walked down the hill to put his kayak in the water.

Beautiful day, and great location.  What more could we ask for.  We will be here for 4 days.  We are staying at some sites a little longer so we can give some of the snow up north time to melt.

We have been really lucky with our campgrounds. This is # 58 and 53-58 are the only ones with double pavement, and they are also the closest to the beach.
Yesterday was a beautiful day once the sun came out. We spent some time on the beach and Ton did some swimming. We had a great time.

 .
Watching the little Beach Rat’s playing around the area. They are harmless and eat only grasses, not the kind we usually hear bad things about.

We sat on the beach and watched a beautiful sunset.

This is some of the wildlife Ton saw while on his morning nature trail walk

It’s been a lot of fun here and tomorrow we leave for Gunter Hill Corp of Engineers Park near Montgomery Alabama.

Thanks to everyone who has posted on our blog. We appreciate it and send our love.

St. Joseph Peninsula State Park

We arrived here on Sunday, April 21 to this beautiful park and got a nice campsite.  Only a few steps from the ocean, we went there to just relax in the afternoon.  It was overcast and the temperature only reached 74 but it was still nice.

Ton took a walk down a nature trail and got some beautiful pictures of the area and some Blue Heron.  At our campsite cardinals, woodpeckers and some blue birds visited us daily.

Today is a very gloomy day so this afternoon we went to the town of St. Joe and visited the museum where the constitution of Florida was written back in 1839 when it became an American Territory.  It was admitted into Union in 1845 as the 27th state.

On the way home we stopped by the St. Joe Shrimp Company and bought some fresh shrimp for supper.  They seasoned and steamed it and it tasted delicious.

It’s supposed to be warmer tomorrow, so we booked two more days here.

Port St. Joseph Peninsula Florida

Yesterday we arrived at Port St. Joe Peninsula and we've been having a good time. It's been a bit cloudy and temperature in the very low 70s which makes it a little bit cool but we spent yesterday on the beach and today we're going into town to visit a museum.
