Huntington Beach State Park, Murrells Inlet, S. C.

Just a quick note hopeing you all had a nice Mothers Day.  It has rained here since last night and just quit at 3 this afternoon.  But, we have spent some beautiful times here in this Paradise.  A nice state park with so much to do.
Ton took me last night to Texas Roadhouse for a nice Dinner.  That is my favorite steak house and everything was perfect.  Too Noisy, but good food.  It's bikers week here so way to busy.  Today they all left and it's so much quieter.
The next couple of days are supposed to rain, so we will probably make one or two night stops just to take our time coming home.  If weather straightens up we'll be home later, if not, sooner.  Enjoy our pics.

May 8 National Seashore - Outer Banks

Hi – We’ve missed talking with you as we’ve been without wi-fi.  Now, we will try to catch up.
After Jamestown we went to Colonial Williamsburg and the following morning, May 8, we headed to the Outer Banks National Seashore.   We stopped at Kitty Hawk and visited where Orville & Wilbur Wright took their first flight.  Then on to Kinnekeet (Now Avon) where we stayed.  Went to the beach and Ton climbed the 210 feet to the top of the Cape Hattares Lighthouse, the tallest lighthouse in the U.S.

Enjoying a meal at the Captains Table
after a beautiful day.
We planned to go to Okrakoke but the ferry couldn’t go as the shoals were too shallow and grounding the ferrys in the middle.  They closed for 8 days straight by 12 noon as they were averaging only one or two trips a day making it across.  We never made it, so had to take the long drive back to the mainland when leaving  the island.
May 11, 2012 we arrived at Huntington Island State in South Carolina.  It is a beautiful state park and the busiest we have ever seen.  They were totally filled – glad we had a reservation.  It’s a beautiful park with great bike trails, a beautiful beach and nice campsites.  We love it here and will stay here the next two days.  Pictures from here coming on next post.
Love to all and Happy Mothers Day!!!

Colonial Williamsburg Area May 5 - 8

Saturday, May 5 we arrived in Newport News City Park near Colonial Williamsburg.  It’s a really nice park and close to everything.  After getting set up we went to the visitors’ bureau in the park and then headed for Yorktown, where the battle with the English was held.  It was a very old picturesque town along the water front where the English came in.  We had a delicious Crab Cake sandwich in the Pub and then walked past some old homes and saw Cannonballs still lodged in the back of some of them.

Today we went to the condo where our neighbors Barbara & Richard from Royal Harbor are spending a week getaway vacation in Williamsburg.  We all went to Jamestown and then had lunch at the New York Deli and Pizza in Williamsburg and a shopping center they suggested.   It was so nice sharing the day with them.

Having fun in front of Jamestown entrance

The food was wonderful and Jamestown very interesting.  It’s where we got our freedom and where John Smith met and married Pocahontas.

Washington D.C. May 2-5

It's been a long time since we've written but we arrived in Washington DC on May 2 and have been staying in the Greenbelt Nationial park.  Took a metro ride to the city and did the city tour on the big red double-decker bus.  We spent a lot of the time at the Smithsonian.  So many museums and so much to see.

Washington Monument

 Jefferson Memorial

The New Martin Luther King Memorial

The Hope Diamond in the
Smithsonian
Washington and the zoo both had lots of construction going on.  Everything was busy with tour groups and refurbishing that it was hectic.   Nice place to visit and you have to see it once.

We spent yesterday most of the day exploring Salisbury N.C. This is a very interesting town with a lot of historical sites and buildings dating from the early 1800's.  They have some beautiful Churches and main street is lined with very interesting buildings and businesses.
Beautiful Building.   Notice on top it says
In God  Salisbury Administration Center  We Trust
Not too many buildings say that anymore.

Beautiful Muriel depicting the town as it was during early 1800.

Nice Clock on street corner.
After a beautiful afternoon we went to the mall and did some shopping.  Today
it's cold outside so we are staying in getting caught up on the computer
and doing the laundry.  Tomorrow we go to a new location, so no more Internet for
awhile.  Hope all is well with all of you.    Thanks so much for your posts concerning
the blog and just saying Hi.  We appreciate it.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for your posts and for sharing our trip.  It's kind of chilly here, but still another beautiful day in Paradise. We woke up to 46 degrees, but sunshine and Ton will go kayaking again today.  Yesterday it was chilly in the in the afternoon and windy but I could watch him from inside the motor home.
We built a fire last night for some marshmallow's after supper and enjoyed our evening.  We are booking here another day so will leave on Thursday morning.
Tell your families hi and we love you,
