7-1 & 2 Lake
Arrowhead State Park, Wichita Falls, TX
We came here with the anticipation of some quiet time,
fishing and kayaking. When calling the
Texas State parks to book the reservation, they informed us that they even
supplied fishing poles and lures to those that didn’t have them and the lakes
are stocked throughout the state.
We had a nice large campsite
When we arrived we did find quiet time as we were on one of
only two campsites occupied in our loop.
Riding our bikes around the large park, we learned they have about 10
loops and none of them were filled or had more than two sites occupied. We quickly learned why.
The boat docks
The lake is down 70% from its regular depth
so the ramps are closed.
The Canadian geese took over the picnic area
The lake is dirty, so the Beach is closed too,
all due to the drought in this area.
The oil well is still pumping oil just around the corner of
our campsite and that’s something different.
To us, this is CRITTER NATION!
I'll let you meet our friends.
The adorable Prairie Dogs were all over the park
An Egret came to visit us
The whole family
Our campsite Peter Cottontail
Unusual birds
Grasshoppers landed on us all
the time while bike riding
A lonely turtle
Keeping watch
and Praying we don't harm them
The thing I dislike the most, spiders glad it was
far away from our site.
So, I’m just saying, we are still enjoying the much-needed quiet and the critters but do miss the beautiful mountains.
As you can tell, we
have left the west and are going the direction of home.

Gosh, I've been wondering where I've been. Although this place was not as expected, I would have loved the critters! Love, Betty
Boy with that growth, I'm not sure I'll recognize Ton! (lol). Looks like you guys are really having a great time. John C.
So sad they are having a drought. But it still looked like fun!
