Lake Chicot State Park, Lake Village, AR

July 8 & 9,  2014
Lake Chicot State Park, Lake Village, AR

Lake Chicot State Park is situated in a grove of majestic wild pecans and ringed with cypress trees standing literally “up to their knees” in water along the nation’s largest natural oxbow remnant, a cutoff of the mighty Mississippi.  True Delta country can be found in this corner of southeastern Arkansas, complete with all the romance inherent in the lands that sweep down to Old Man River.
The lake was once the main channel of the Mississippi, and is now a protected sporting area for the outdoor enthusiast.

We picked a site high above the lake with the boat docks right in front of us.
So peaceful, and I could sit up here underneath
our canopy, read a book
and take pictures of Ton kayaking
without having to run up and down the hill.
On his way
He went a long way across the lake
 He enjoyed the day taking
 these pictures and paddling.
In the evening we took a bike ride and
then relaxed and enjoyed the evening.
The second day we awoke to a very overcast sky
but after a few hours, Ton decided it wasn't going to rain for awhile
so went for a ride on the calm peaceful.
I love these pictures as they show
the serenity of the lake with no one around.

The egret high in the tree was beautiful
in the silence of the surroundings

The massive Cypress Trees all around
  and more egret ahead
We are enjoying Gods creation at its finest
Heading back home, he sees the RV straight ahead

  back on the docks
and I'm ready to go!!! :)

I think I just want to stay here for awhile. If this isn't a little taste of Heaven I don't know what is! We are getting lots of rain.

This is a little bit of heaven. We were just saying we could stay here for very long time. Unfortunately, the day after tomorrow all waterfront sites are booked through the weekend. To find someplace nice to get us through next weekend, we need to move on in the morning.

I am with Betty. Better stay there awhile. It has been hot, hot, hot here, with thunderstorms almost every day.
