Red Rock Canyon State Park, Hinton, OK
As we left our campsite to head to Red Rock
we couldn't help but notice the geese were still in charge
Even the river underneath this beautiful bridge is
called the South Canadian River
We arrived and checked to see if they had an opening.
Once in the canyon, we learned we were the only ones there. :)
It was a steep drive down
This right angle turn to the left was rediculous
It was a pretty drive down
and we picked our site at the end of the road
since the road was wider and the canyons didn't close you in so much.
The whole park is only 310 acres and 2 miles long.
After getting settled we hopped on our bikes and took a ride.
It didn't take long to go the complete length
We made a few stops along the way
The sign says:
This Box Elder Tree is the Largest in Oklahoma
King of the Campground
This tree and the creek were right beside our campsite
We quickly learned from the ranger we were the only ones in the Campground
We had already come to that conclusion, but it was now confirmed.
Here are a few of the critters around us.
Day 2, We had a high of 69 degrees today. Ton took a short hike across the top of the canyon, and I baked some cookies.
It full of different wildflowers
but not much else.
Not like our other canyons
Among the beauty, you can always find some kind of critter
It was nice park; but after the excitement of the the other
places, it was almost too quiet.
To be honest, we're already missing the beauty and excitement of the West.

Love the flowers. You could "hear" the quietness of this campsite though - almost spooky, right Sis? Thanks Ton (or Jeri) for the butterfly picture. Really made me smile! Enjoy your 4th. Going to watch fireworks anywhere?
Hugs, Betty
It's pretty, but, I wouldn't want to be alone there. Sounds creepy. We love you. Happy Independence Day.
