COARSEGOLD CA, SIERRA SKP PARK

Hello all,
Here is a little update as to where we are and what our plans are for the next weeks. We have arrived in Coarsegold Ca and are about 50 miles from Yosemite valley where we are staying May 1-3.  After that we are coming back to Coarsegold for one week in order to kill time for our arrival at the Grand Canyon.  .At first we wanted to cross over CA, hwy 120 towards Carson city Nev. but this road and Tioga pass are not assessable until sometimes as late as June so we choose to backtrack to Bakersfield ca, and from there go to Las Vegas,  spend 2-3 days in Vegas and then do the Grand Canyon. We have reservations in  Grand Canyon Village May15-20 therefore we we have to kill time before we get there. We tried to change our dates but everything is booked full in May so we will go with our original dates.Still having a lot of fun and looking forward to our visit in Yosemite. We will post a few pictures of our new digs and surrounding area and a map of our new location.

Drive to Coaresgold - a long seven hours

On the deck beside our RV

Nature all around us

Much colder here - still 49 a 10 this morning and the RV's are right on top of each other with very small lots compared to where we were before but still beautiful.  We got lucky with our site as we have no neighbors on one side or on the back.  On the other side we leave our lite curtain closed so feel very comfortable.  Hope we get this lucky when we come back after Yosimite, but we can't complain.  At that time we stay a complete week buying time with a special 1/2 price of only $48 for the entire week.  Nice clubhouse, beautiful surroundings so NO COMPLAINTS.  Just enjoying life.

A day at Disneyland

First we hope everyone had a nice Easter.  We went to church at another RV park and were picked up and taken over by a nice gentleman from there.  He has a beautiful all wood restored trolley and picks people from this community every Sunday morning.  Wish we had a picture, but don't carry a camera to church and who would have guessed.  Anyway it was a nice morning with a good service.

Monday  we got up early to head for Anaheim.  We were warned about the 91 freeway but it was much worse than we expected.  Six lanes of traffic bumber to bumper and two express lanes but they didn't allow cash to pay and our transponder wasn't good there, so it took us 2 1/2 hours to drive the 80 miles from here.  Thank goodness Ton's a patient driver.
Arriving to the park we parked in a nice parking garage and were picked up by the tram and taken to the park.  They have two parks, Magic Kingdom and California Adventure. Both parks together do not have as much as our Magic Kingdom.  Magic Kingdom was a nightmare.  Bumper to bumper guests and long long lines.  We only went on two things and they were the Indiana Jones Temple of  Doom Ride and the train.  Then we walked over to California Adventure which was a shorter walk than the tram to the Castle in Florida.  The attractions were all about California.  We loved Flight over California which is like our Soarin in Epcot but about things in CA.  We took a walk around the park and left.  We had been there for six hours and were exhausted  We've been spoiled with our Disney World at home.
Then for the long drive home but it was a little less busy as we left at 4 in the afternoon.
We're glad we went there and enjoyed the day, but it is a lot of attractions in a very small area, so that makes for big crowds and lines.  I'm still impressed that Walt was able to accomplish this in his time in such a big city as Los Angeles.Today and tomorrow we will rest after this disneyland expierience
Here a few pictures.

ANOTHER GREAT DAY IN SAN DIEGO

Yesterday we took of for another visit to San Diego this time with my wallet safely packed away in my shorts. The day started out cloudy but the closer we got to our destination the clearer it became.By the time we reached point Loma our first stop, it was nice and the sun was bright and shining.  Point Loma is a peninsula overlooking the bay of San Diego. It is also the place of Cabrillo Nationial Monument named after the discoverer Juan Rodrigueuez Cabrillo who was the first European explorer to set foot on the west coast of the US.
As it is a national monument we are allowed to see it at no charge with our senior pass, always a bonus.  It allowed a beautiful overview of San Diego and the surrounding area it is also a veterans memorial and has a lot of veterans grave sites. We watched a 20 min. movie of the story on Cabrillo's discoveries and it was quite interesting. Here are
some picks

MISS AMERICA

STATUE OF GABRILLO

LIGHTHOUSE ON THE PENINSULA

OVERLOOKING SANDIEGO

VETERANS CEMETARY

On our way once again up the coast to the beach in the  city of La Jolla.  We were told this was a must see.
You park your car right on the main street driving along the beach and hope you find a parking place.  I think we parked the farthest from the action, but it was worth it.  WOW!
Not like a Florida where you walk over the sand to get there, but beautiful cliffs and coves that you have to walk down too.  It is georgous and as we reached what was the Childrens Beach we saw seals and more seals.  They have been taking over the beach for the past few years.  They even have a pup count shown on the sidewalk that lets everyone know how many are born there each month.  You won't believe it.
Our walk to the Childrens Pool

Swimmers and divers on this side of the rock

and on the other side seals and more seals

See the whiskers - He's smiling at you

Lots of sea lions

A wonderful day

BALBOA PARK SAN DIEGO AND A LEASURELY DAY AT HOME

Well 2 days ago we took off for San Diego for another visit of this beautifull city. The day started out great and we arrived downtown at about 11 am. We found a great parking place right by a stop for the free tram into the park.we took the tram and got of in the middle of the park and began admirering the beatifull buildings the belltower and the great architecture of the buildings all around us. We made it to the botanical garden and admired the flowers and plants all around us.
We than went to the visitors bureau for some more info and it was there that I realised that I did not have my wallet. A sick feeling came over me that I must have lost it on the tram or possibly in the car or anywhere in between. So needless to say we began backtracking and did not find it.
At that point there were only 2 possibilitys either I lost it or it was inthe motorhome. Not being in the mood to continue our visit we decided to go back and check the motorhome and thank goodness it was there!
So much for our whirlwind trip in san diego so we will try it again tomorrow or the next day depending on weather. We will post a few picks of our fast adventure!

Now we can catch up.  Yesterday (Sunday) we went to San Diego and visited the USS Midway.

Beautiful home on the hill

Engineering Marvel

WE'VE ARRIVED!!
WOW! WHAT A SHIP!!
We were in awe the entire time.  This was a 47 year old odyssey that stretched from the end of WWII to the liberation of Kuwait in 1991.  This was shared by thousands of sailors whose average age was only 19.
So now we will share some of the pics of the ship.

FIRST DAY AT OUR TEMPORARY HOME

Well we are settling in at this beautiful California hillside, the weather has been perfect the last 2 days temps in the 80's during the day and 50's at night.
Before we show our new home, we have to show you the biker crew we mentioned yesterday.  The only live people we saw on the road for many miles.

After wondering if we were going the right direction, we finally arrived to our new home

The gates that looked like heaven after that drive
We checked in, got the code for the gates and then were escorted to our site.

Today we went to check out the nearest town Temecula it is 15 miles from our location and the driving to the town by itself is a hoot!  You come down the mountain from about 3000ft to about  sea level and it's all downhill on a busy 2 lane road with a speed limit of 55 so hang on!! If you don't go 55 they will push you to go that fast.

We went shopping for supplies and made a stop to the local Costco.  Not your normal trip as we know it.  It's much closer than the one in Altamonte.

Tomorrow we will take it easy and rest and plan for things to do next week.  As you can see, it's not a bad place to chill.
