ANOTHER GREAT DAY IN SAN DIEGO

Yesterday we took of for another visit to San Diego this time with my wallet safely packed away in my shorts. The day started out cloudy but the closer we got to our destination the clearer it became.By the time we reached point Loma our first stop, it was nice and the sun was bright and shining.  Point Loma is a peninsula overlooking the bay of San Diego. It is also the place of Cabrillo Nationial Monument named after the discoverer Juan Rodrigueuez Cabrillo who was the first European explorer to set foot on the west coast of the US.
As it is a national monument we are allowed to see it at no charge with our senior pass, always a bonus.  It allowed a beautiful overview of San Diego and the surrounding area it is also a veterans memorial and has a lot of veterans grave sites. We watched a 20 min. movie of the story on Cabrillo's discoveries and it was quite interesting. Here are
some picks

MISS AMERICA

STATUE OF GABRILLO

LIGHTHOUSE ON THE PENINSULA

OVERLOOKING SANDIEGO

VETERANS CEMETARY

On our way once again up the coast to the beach in the  city of La Jolla.  We were told this was a must see.
You park your car right on the main street driving along the beach and hope you find a parking place.  I think we parked the farthest from the action, but it was worth it.  WOW!
Not like a Florida where you walk over the sand to get there, but beautiful cliffs and coves that you have to walk down too.  It is georgous and as we reached what was the Childrens Beach we saw seals and more seals.  They have been taking over the beach for the past few years.  They even have a pup count shown on the sidewalk that lets everyone know how many are born there each month.  You won't believe it.
Our walk to the Childrens Pool

Swimmers and divers on this side of the rock

and on the other side seals and more seals

See the whiskers - He's smiling at you

Lots of sea lions

A wonderful day
