In case you are not aware, all pictures can be viewed larger by clicking on them.

It rained during the night and we woke up to 42 degrees  We had a winds up to 30 mph so decided to wait until afternoon to explore.

Since tomorrow is MOTHERS DAY,
it is appropriate to start this post with the following pictures of
the Mothers Garden at the Cathedral of St. Joseph.

The cathedral held its first mass in 1918 and still holds mass today.
It is beautiful and they encourage visitors to visit.

We also went to the Old Courthouse and enjoyed all of the artifacts and memorabilia of years past.

May the faith, love and spirit
of those who came before us,
continue, with Gods help,
in the lives of our children

Horn Chair ca 1900
Toward the end of the 19th century a style was created representing the
Wild West and American Frontier.  As a result Furniture was constructed
from animal horns and antlers.  This chair was made of steer horns.  The
chairs were mass-produced in cattle ranching areas because of their big stockyards.
This one is especially interesting because of the platform-rocking base

Ceremonial shirt and leggings in 1910.  This was intended for chief Hallow Horn Bear
who in 1913 went to Washington for the inauguration of President Wilson and died
while he was there.  The shirt was officially completed a year later and given to
Little Elk who was Chief of Police in Rosebud, S.D.

Pad Saddle from the 1800's
The was the most common kind of saddle during that time.

As our day ended, Ton took me to Mothers Day Dinner at the Outback. This was my choice when he asked me and I didn’t want to go tomorrow as it will be too busy. Another plesant day. It’s supposed to be between 28 and 32 degrees in the morning. By Tuesday, it is supposed to be in the 90’s. From one extreme to another we are ready for the warmer side.

I'm behind in responding but absolutely LOVE Sioux Falls. I remember going there when I was about 6 years old. I so wanted to be a cowgirl after seeing all the Indian and old west stuff! I'm sorry you had bad driving but so glad you had a nice Mothers' Day meal even if it was the day before. We are trying to get back to our adnormal normal before Kerri comes to visit on the 24th. Love & hugs - praying for your safety every single day, Sis. Betty
