Santa Fe, New Mexico

June 28, 2013    Santa Fe, New Mexico

Surprise!  We hadn’t planned to come here but changed our mind at the last minute.  It was out of our way a bit, but we wanted to visit someplace new in this state.  What better place than the second oldest city in the U.S.A.  Of course we all know St. Augustine is the oldest.
Founded in 1610, Santa Fe is the Oldest Capital City in the U.S. and with an elevation of 7,000 ft. above sea level it is the Highest Capital City too.  Come along and we'll show you some of the town.
This is the historic downtown area

The Plaza  (park) & the Palace of the Governor's
where also built in 1610
Standing in front of the Governor's Palace
which is part of the History Museum of Santa Fe
Beautiful but expensive Turquoise

 Deer Hide Tapestry -1630's

The deer hide tapestry was placed in the chapel by
Archbishop Edwin V. Byrne at the
upon rededication of the chapel in 1955

Now that we have all had our history lessons for today y
you  can see the beauty of the old city of Santa Fe.
It is a beautiful city, but very busy and traffic is horrible.  We found it very interesting and are glad we came to check it out.

OH MY GOSH...you are killing me!!! Such memories you are bringing back to me and yet "we" are making new ones. Carl and I stayed in a B&B in Bernalillo - just sw from Santa Fe. Carl and I almost bought a house in Old Mesilla - just south of Las Cruces. Have you been to White Sands? I think you went there before, right? Everyone should visit Santa Fe once if they are close by but I agree, much too crowded for me. OH how I'm loving our trip!!! Love & hugs, Betty

We also went to Bandelier National Mon. - you are close...I remember Carl and I liked that too. Just driving all around there is so beautiful. I know you are enjoying it as much as we did...and I am again....xoxo

I knew you were near here at one time and we are happy you're making new memories with us. We went to White Sands 3 years ago and it was in that town that I got so sick with an infection in my lung. The clinic we went to was good and took good care of me. Sending hugs and will see you sometime next month.

What a beautiful church. I like the pic of the youth choir. They don't look all to excited. LOL :)
