May 2 - 6 Escapee Rainbow Plantation near Foley, Alabama

May 3

We drove to the pier in the town of Fairhope.  What a beautiful old town with rolling hills and beautiful parks and beaches.  We went to see the sunset over the bay with the Mobile skyline across the bay.

Today we took the Mobile Bay Ferry to Dauphin Island to go to the Beach and tour an old Fort from the 1890’s. I really enjoyed the Ferry Ride. It holds 28 vehicles per trip.  After boarding and paying  We went to the upper platform to enjoy the view during the 35 minute ride.  It was warm and windy and a pleasant way to cross the bay.

When we got off the ferry we headed to the Beach and it was terrific.  A nice breeze so we didn't get too hot.  Ton walked the Beach for awhile and I just enjoyed my surroundings and reading a book once in awhile.

From there we headed for the fort.
I didn't have the energy to walk the whole Fort so I waited for Ton in the aid conditioned Gift Shop.  I can enjoy the Fort looking at his pictures later and browse the shop in the meantime.
I think the pictures taken from around the for speak
for themselves, so enjoy your tour.

We caught the 3:30 Ferry back to the mainland to head back home.
It was a really nice day, but long day.

May 5
This was a catch up day, but we did take a couple of hours to enjoy the Beach that was close to us in Gulf Shores, Alabama.  In the afternoon we did some cleaning and went to the Laundromat.

A view of the beach before we leave
Tomorrow should be another busy and exciting day.  We’ll see…..

All your pics say Ton & Jeri on the bottom right, does your camera do that, or is it the blog site?

Jon,
I resize all the pictures to 680x460 for the blog. The camera pics are HD, so I use export on Picasso. There you pick the size you want and can put a watermRk on them or in our case, I put our names. I keep all blog pics in a different file so I keep the original.
