ROSWELL, N.M. - Hidden Lakes State Park

May 14 & 15 Roswell, N.M.
Last night we stayed in Big Spring, Texas just for a overnight stop
This morning we stopped here in Roswell because it was on our route and we wanted a break from driving.
Roswell made its mark on the world in 1947 when the news came out that a U.F.O. had crashed on a ranch Northwest of the town.  Once the farmer made it known he had found the debris, others came forward and made alien claims too. All I can say is the wide-open spaces and rock surroundings would make a perfect landing. :)  No signs of aliens (little green men) or anything like that were seen.  J

The town had a beautiful courthouse but otherwise it didn't impress us; but we did enjoy the campground.
Bottomless State Park is a quiet, small park with beautiful scenery all around.  It was very relaxing as we made plans for our next few stops.
Bottomless Lakes are a chain of 8 lakes that are actually sinkholes that range from 17 to 90 feet deep.  It is crystal clear water with 1% salt.

We settled into our site and then took the bikes to explore.

The clear water in the swimming area of Lea Lake

A nice afternoon ride.  Cool breeze in the mid 70's

This little lake is behind the visitors center

I had to take a picture of this sign as I never thought Roadrunner's would get this big

After supper, we went to watch the sunset over the lake in our campground

The natural wall around the lake glistened in the sunset

As we look out our window we say Goodnight to all
as we look at the beautiful Full Moon

In the morning of Day 2  it was still 39 degrees outside at 9:30 a.m.
so Ton ventured out on his own.

A cute little bird in the limestone
and a rabbit too added to the wildlife

When he got back from his bike ride, we took the car to see some of the other lakes

This is the trail Ton took to the overlook of some lakes

I asked him if he was looking up to find some aliens.

After we got back to the campsite he still had to go swimming.  It was low 80's
outside but the water was in the 60's.

That's my hubby - he tries it all

So, if you saw little green men, would you go with them, have them come with us or....what was your plan? I know Ton would not go there without a plan....

Love you guys - Betty

Anne Marie,
Thanks for letting us know. I can't believe they landed in Delft, Holland to get us the message. Guess their GPS got them lost. :) We're thrilled you're looking at the blog and hope you're doing well. Love you

Betty
Between you and Ton's youngest sister, Anne Marie it's good to know you're both trying to keep us thinking and safe.
You know him too well. LOL I'm not sure he planned how to handle that situation though. He'd probably go with them for the adventure, but I'd prefer they come along with us. hehe I don't trust what they would do in the space ship.
Love you too, Take care
